QRP-expedition in the Victorian alps

Combining cross country skiing into the wilderness of the Bogong High Plains from 30 July to 4 August will be three radio amateurs and a number of friends.

The party will be spending about a week from civilisation, camping in the snow, and during their rest periods will be getting on air using their portable amateur radio stations.

Matt VK3HFI, Gerard VK3JPA and Stephen VK3SN plan to be activate on several repeaters in VK1, VK2 and VK3 as well as 160-metres through to 20-metres in the afternoon and evenings.

Their QRP equipment will include solar panels, batteries and simple wire antennas, plus hand-held VHF/UHF transceivers.
