Mini wind-up radio

A new version of the wind-up radio has been produced by inventor Trevor Baylis which can also be powered by its small solar panel or through a USB port.

Weighing just 500 grams, measuring 130mm by 60mm, the Mini Eco Radio also has an LED torch plus an emergency mobile phone charger.

Meantime authorities in Zimbabwe have banned wind-up receivers claiming they are being used to tune into illegal foreign shortwave news broadcasts.
