GlobalSET a success

The Global Simulated Emergency Test held on 18 April in the latest GlobalSET had 258 stations registered in all IARU Regions and helped to strengthen the emergency communications preparedness of the amateur radio service.

IARU Region 1 Emergency Communications Co-ordinator Greg Mossup G0DUB said that there were 50 countries represented.

He said while propagation was not as good as we may have wanted, messages were actually passed and some very good contacts were made.

The focus of attention is now on the 5th Global Amateur Radio Emergency Conference (GAREC) to be held in Tokyo 24-25 August and hosted by the Japan Amateur Radio League.
