The MMSN helps out

July 1, 2009 by Arvadmin

This net on 14.300MHz aims to assist in handling radio traffic and just keeping in contact with maritime mobile stations.

Recognised by the US Coast Guard it has handled hundreds of incidents ranging from distress through to medical emergencies in remote locations.

The MMSN operators are ready to pass health and welfare traffic in and out of disaster affected areas.

Another activity is the collection of weather reports from maritime stations that are relay to the weather services to augment other observation reports.

More about the network can be found at: http://www.mmsn.org/
