Car2Car Communication

The aim of the project is to allow vehicles to wirelessly communicate with one another.

Honda, General Motors, Audi, BMW, Daimler/Chrysler and now Volvo are to use the system planned to be operational by 2016, cutting accidents, improving traffic flow, and just making driving a more enjoyable experience.

Under the system cars can send data to other vehicles within a given radius, including such things as its GPS coordinates, speed and direction.

It will advise motorists of potential red light violation, a catch all the green light facility, approaching motorcycles, emergency vehicles, brake lights ahead, road works, traffic jams and the weather.
