Deliberate interference results in hefty fine
A 20-year old man has admitted making bogus call on New York City Police Department radio frequencies and has been fined more than $400,000. The alleged transmissions ranged from malicious interference, false criminal use of firearms, and threats to NYPD officers.
The Federal Communication Commission claimed the illegal activity was from April to August 2016, and it sent the man Notice of Apparent Liability in April this year, but has not had a response. Now it has confirmed the $404,166 fine that if not paid in 30 days will handed to the Justice Department for collection.
The man with two others have also been arrested suspected of committing several robberies. Police has seized 15 portables, 9 scanners, roof-top antennas, an amplifier, and assorted other electronics.
