Australian internet subscribers and the amount they downloaded had dramatically increased in line with the digital boom.
The ACMA found that the number of us with a connection is up 17% and our downloading rose by 29% in 2010.
Keeping a watch on the uptake and availability of broadband, the ACMA has found that the increases reflect the ongoing digital boom in online social and economic activity.
More than 15 million people aged 14years and over used the internet during the December quarter of 2010, up from 14.2 million during the same quarter in 2009.
Some 71% of internet users went online at least once a day, compared to 67% in the previous term in 2009 or an overall increase of 1.2 million users.
